What's inside an SSD?
Ever wondered what's inside of these new, modern, flash-memory tech, and fast storage solution that's basically used and a minimum requirement in todays modern computing and other devices as their boot drive (aka. the operating system they should install it in)? Well, let's take a look of an SSD I have right here:
As clearly what it says, this is a V-GEN SSD; in a 2.5-inch form factor, SATA III (3) interface,
capacity of 120GB, and a thereotical speed of 6.0GB/s (although most of these top-out at just 550MB/s).
Now let's take a look what's inside...
And, voila!. Can't you believe that? Most of the space in the 2.5-inch form factor is wasted and the mainboard is pretty small too!
And as you can see, the main board is really interesting isn't it? :). You've got the SanDisk NAND chip of what it seems like, controller chip, and another big chip. And on the back of the board, there seems to be an ommited slot for another chip.
